Division in America

Lately I have noticed increasing intolerance of differing opinions.  It seems like it is hard to disagree in a friendly way anymore.  I have to say it is hard for me to understand how people can be so rude to someone over small things.  Like fish.  There was a time when people understood the concept that different people have different aquariums.  Not all methods of fish keeping are the same, but that doesn't mean only one way is the right way.  Just because my plants grow great under less than one watt of light per gallon doesn't mean people who have high-light setups are wrong.  And it doesn't make me wrong.
But it isn't just us fishkeepers these days.  Look at the map.  Red states, Blue states; but if you notice, there is blue and red in almost every state.  We aren't just growing apart in ideas, we are growing intolerant of those who have different opinions.  In this nation where we all have the right to have an opinion, some people seem to think everybody should share their opinion.  I am writing this not as a complaint, but as a warning.  Remember that this is a time that Ben Franklin would remind us that "We must all hang together, or, most assuredly, we shall surely hang separately."
